The ancient city Skiritida is located south of Tripoli. The Skirites were renowned hardcore warriors in antiquity and chosen soldiers in the Spartan army. Dense forests cover the area and make up a truly dreamy landscape due to the presence of many cherry and walnut trees (esp. in the spring in which they bloom and in autumn when the leaves take on warm hues). Apart from the forests there is also a lot of water; From here flows the river Evrotas. The area’s central village is Vlachokerasia, the start and ending of our journey. The hike goes through dense forests, beside rivers and streams, and has adventure elements, as in some places there are fixed ropes for your aid.
